Nucor, Marion and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Recycling and Litter Prevention will join with the Marion Palace Theatre to present Tom Chapin and Friends in concert on Sunday, April 27 at 3:00 p.m. Tickets are just $8 and are available in advance at the box office, 270 W. Center Street or at the door one hour prior to the concert.

Three time Grammy winning composer and musician Tom Chapin has been called “the best family artist around” by Billboard Magazine and “one of the great personalities in contemporary folk music” by The New York Times. His “Friends” are Michael Mark on bass/vocals and Jon Cobert on keyboard/vocals, extraordinary musicians, writers, singers and five time Grammy nominees. Together Tom Chapin and Friends weave musical magic.

“My collaborators and I work very hard at writing songs that are funny, catchy, that tell stories, that are musically exciting, and that talk about the real world,” says Chapin.

When Chapin and friends appear at the Marion Palace Theatre, they will perform their “The Clean Machine” show.

Inspired by Chapin’s Grammy nominated recording “This Pretty Planet,” and updated with new songs from Tom’s song bag, this show features a collection of environmental songs filled with fun, humor and memorable melodies. Tom Chapin uses his trademark wit to express how each individual can do his or her part to ensure a clean and green future.

Marion County’s own Recycling and Litter Prevention specialist Angie Carbetta has worked with Nucor and ODNR to generate funds to bring this concert to the Palace as a family-friendly focus on Earth Week and Keep Ohio Beautiful Month.

ODNR Director Sean Logan believes that “conservation in Ohio will take a giant leap forward when we all recognize the extent to which we are connected to each other,” pointing out the “lasting value of this clean-up program as a catalyst to local action, local connections, and a local commitment to conservation and a sustainable society.”
