Several chain restaurants have pulled tomatoes off the menu following a salmonella outbreak.

In the area, McDonald’s and Taco Bell pulled most of their tomatoes although McDonald’s will still use the grape tomatoes as no link between those types and illnesses in 16 states exists.

Kroger’s has also pulled their raw red plum, red Roma, and red round tomatoes from shelves along with salsa, salad bars, and other products that use potentially tainted tomatoes.

At least 23 people have become ill and the Federal Food and Drug Administration has yet to identify where the infected tomatoes are coming from.
