Financial Aid Information Sessions Set 11-06-2009

Financial aid representatives from The Ohio State University at Marion and the I CAN Center of Excellence, an Ohio college access network program, will visit several area high schools November 2009 through February 2010 to offer free college funding guidance during financial aid information sessions and FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) completion nights.

Financial aid information sessions offer prospective students and their parents/guests an overview into the world of college scholarships and financial aid. Representatives will share how to uncover several funding sources available to help make college more affordable and offer advice on the best ways to fund your education.

All area FAFSA Completion Nights require students and parents to bring income and asset information to the high school and representatives will provide assistance in filling out the online FAFSA form. Information concerning precise documentation to bring is available through your area high school or college financial aid office.

A college student’s financial aid package may consist of a combination of scholarships, grants, loans, and part-time work through the Federal Work Study program or other outside employment. The priority deadline to apply for maximum financial aid awards, including the FAFSA is March 1, 2010, for students planning to attend an Ohio State regional campus during the 2010-2011 academic year, but may be earlier for other institutions.

FAFSA worksheets will be available early January 2010 from The Ohio State University at Marion Office of Financial Aid, Maynard Hall, Room 100, 1465 Mount Vernon Avenue, Marion. Filing for financial aid does not obligate you to enroll, nor does it guarantee an award; it only begins the process of your financial planning in anticipation of your enrollment.
