Trade Adjustment Assistance For Farmers 08-05-2010 If producers are negatively impacted by increased imports and this increase contributes to greater than 15 percent decrease in average annual price, quantity of production, value of production or cash receipts, compared to the average of the 3 preceding marketing years, Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) for farmers is available.
Wool and Lamb producers in Montana, Idaho, Utah and Wyoming have submitted a petition for fiscal year 2011, accepted by the Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS). There is a period of 40 days for the FAS administrator to make a determination of whether increased imports had an adverse effect (of at least 15%) on wool or lamb prices, quantity or production.
Ohio producer groups involved with wool and lamb production, interested in joining these petitions, must submit a completed form FAS-930, TAA Petition for Certification and Eligibility for a Group of Producers. Deadline for submission of a TAA Petition is August 9, 2010. Forms or additional information is available at http://www.fas.usda.gov/itp/policy/newsdata.asp or by contacting your FSA office.
