Annual Hunting Orientation and Lottery 08-12-2010 The Crawford Park District will be holding their annual hunting orientation and lottery for the Sandusky Wildlife Area and Sears Woods/Carmean Woods State Nature Preserves for the 2010-2011 hunting season. The orientation and lottery will be held at the Lowe-Volk Park Nature Center on Saturday, August 28, beginning promptly at 10:00 AM. No late arrivals will be admitted after the orientation meeting begins to insure that all participants receive the same information and to avoid confusion.
Due to deer herd damage within Sears Woods and Carmean Woods State Nature Preserves, we will have a controlled deer hunt in both preserves. This hunt will be open to any licensed hunter, whereas Sandusky Wildlife Area is only available to Crawford County residents.
The lottery drawing for Sears Woods, Carmean Woods, and SWA will take place immediately following the orientation meeting. Attendance at this orientation is mandatory to participate in the hunting lottery. In years past, a representative could be sent in your place if you were unable to attend. However, if you cannot attend the lottery, you will not be able to send a representative in your place.
We are asking that you arrive at the Nature Center 20 minutes in advance of the meeting and to bring either your hunting license or your drivers license. Arriving early will allow you time to look over the information sheet and enter your choices into the drawing for the lottery. You may enter as many of the categories as you would like, before the orientation begins at 10:00 AM. For more information contact the Crawford Park District at 419-683-9000. Lowe-Volk Park is located at 2401 State Route 598, 3 miles north of Galion.
