I have been enjoying reading a borrowed copy of "Hostle's Hush", a fictional story of the adventures of a group of young kids in Bucyrus during the depression years. It does not take long to read between the lines and remember some of the kids and places referred to in the novel. If you are not familiar with the title, it is wrapped around a place of high adventure for a lot of us, Dostal's Brewery.

The boys recall their adventures along the Sandusky River and elsewhere as the story unfolds which covers the murder of a town character. In one of the scenes the boys are sliding down a cliff behind the hospital. I was born in a house directly across from that cliff. The book is available in all of the notable bookstores such as Barnes and Noble.

The class of 1952 is finalizing plans for the 50th reunion to take place on September 21st. The reunion is to be held at the Bucyrus Golf club. If you have not sent in your reservation yet, be sure to do so. If you have not received information on the reunion yet just send me an e-mail at sreve@marion.net I can refer you to the right people. We should have a great time because we are all old enough that we can toss aside old inhibitions and have a super get-together.

Having lived within a block of the old T&OC railroad station on Plymouth Street, I am tremendously happy to see it moved next to the T&OC passenger station on the east side of town. There it will be renovated and become a part of Bucyrus's historical past.

The store windows downtown will be filled with memories of the past this month. Thanks to the Bucyrus Preservation Society and a bunch of hard workers. Every city needs a group that can take charge and get things rolling.

Do some of you have questions about old places and times in Bucyrus? There are a lot of resources out there such as Jim Croneis that can answer your questions. If you have an interesting tale to tell let me know. Just send an e-mail to sreve@marion.net
