Happy September!
By the time you read this column, school will be in full swing
again. If
you're like me, you wonder where in the world the summer went!
September brings thoughts of schoolwork and football games, plus
great
programming at the Bucyrus Public Library.
The library will be closed on September 2 and 3 for the Labor
Day holiday.
Beginning Tuesday, September 4, the library reverts back to its
longer
hours. The library will be open 9-9 Monday through
Thursday, 9-6 on Friday,
9-5 and Saturday, and 1-5 on Sundays. Remember these hours
resume after the
Labor Day holiday!
The library will be closed on September 7th for a staff
in-service. The
library will be receiving several computers courtesy of the
Gates Foundation
and this in-service day will allow the staff to be trained on
them.
Story hours will resume the week of September 10th. This
session of story
hours runs through the week before Christmas. Story hours
are held
7:00-7:45 p.m. on Monday nights, 10:30-11:00 a.m. on Tuesday
mornings, and
10:30-11:15 a.m. on Thursday mornings. No
pre-registration is required. A
variety of books, songs, stories, games, and fingerplays are
done at each
story hours session and are centered around a weekly
theme. Craft days are
held one time per month, as are snack-and-play days. For
more information
on story hours, contact Barb Scott at 562-7327.
On September 5th, an opening reception to kick off a display by
local artist
Ben Anslow will be held at 7:00 p.m. Mr. Anslow's
watercolors, pen and ink,
and pencil drawings will be on display at the library through
the month of
September. The public is invited to this opening
reception.
Join us in welcoming ventriloquist extraordinaire Mark Wade on
September
11th at 6:00 p.m. Mark will be presenting his safari
summer reading
adventure, taking participants around the world with his
hilarious
characters and amazing talent. Come and find out just how
much fun reading
can be!
Area business persons and members of the Chamber of Commerce are
invited to
a "business-after-hours" to be held on September 27th
from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
This event will feature our recent additions of Gates equipment
from the
Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Gary Rivers of
NuwaveMedia will be
demonstrating the new Bucyrus Historical Society website.
The public will be introduced to the new Gates equipment during
a Gates Open
House that will be held September 28th from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00
p.m. Stop by
anytime during the day and see our new computers from the Gates
Foundation.
Staff will be demonstrating some of the new software and tours
of the
library will be given.
