Happy August from the
Bucyrus Public Library!
The month of August brings thoughts of final vacation days
before the start
of school again and the Bratwurst Festival!
August at the Bucyrus Public Library brings the display of the
Hoffman
Challenge Quilts and other fun activities! The quilts, which
are from all
over the world, can be seen during regular library hours from
August 15th
through August 31st. The quilts will be displayed in the
library's
Community Room.
The Friends of the Library will be hosting their annual
Bratwurst book sale
during the Bratwurst Festival. Hours for the sale are
Wednesday, August
15th from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m; Thursday, August 16th from
10:00 a.m. to
4:00 p.m.; Friday August 17th from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.;
Saturday, August
18th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Lots of books have come in
throughout the
spring and summer and the library has been weeding some of its
collections,
so there are many, many books available for purchase!
The library's official mascot, Booker, will be in all of the
Bratwurst
Festival parades. Watch for him and the giant library card to
pass you on
the parade route!
The library will be observing special hours during the Bratwurst
Festival.
These are Thursday and Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and closed
on the
Saturday of the Festival. However, on Saturday, you can get
into the
library for both the quilt show and the book sale. The library
is only
closed for business.
Monday Movie Madness at the library continues during the month
of August.
Join us on Monday afternoons at 1:00 p.m. in the library's
Community Room
for "Afternoon Videos for Kids". Then, at 7:00 p.m., it's
Monday Movie
Madness for adults, with classic movies. We will be using our
computer
projector to project the movies onto the big screen giving the
Community
Room a "drive-in" feel. Everyone attending can bring their own
chairs, bean
bags, blankets, etc. Refreshments are served and there is no
preregistration. For more information, call the library at
419-562-7327 or
check out the library's website at
www.bucyrus.lib.oh.us
for complete lists
of movies for the month of August!
The summer reading programs at the Bucyrus are all winding
down. The K-6
and Young Adult programs both ended on July 25th with the Final
Carnival
held at Timken Park from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Games were provided,
as well as
drawings held for a variety of prizes. We were very pleased to
have
100-plus participants in attendance! Big winners, in the K-6
group, of
$50.00 Savings Bonds, provided by Jim and Beth Salimbene of
Wendy's were
Jacob Bentley, Kaylee Johnson, and Zach Bentley!
Congratulations to these
lucky young winners!
All four summer reading programs (preschool, K-6, Young Adult,
and Adult)
saw lots of participation, great programs, and best of all, lots
of books
checked out of the library!
The library also had a fun time at the Crawford County Fair.
Library
workers manned a booth during all the days of the fair. Check

The Teen Advisory Board will be holding its regular meeting on
the first
Tuesday in August at 7:00 p.m. This board, headed up by Young
Adult

high schools.
New members are encouraged to attend! For more information,
